Biography

ROBERT COMBAS

ROBERT COMBAS was born on 25 May 1957 in Lyon. He was educated in Sète.
After one year studiing in the Sète School of Fine Arts , he entered the Montpellier School of Fine Arts in 1975.
Soon after getting his diploma in 1980 , he settled down in Paris.
He created an artistic movement that Ben has called "Free Representation", a new trend including Branchard , Boisrond , Herve Di Rosa and Combas.
Robert Combas ' inspiration stems from popular culture (society , violence , sex , pain , everyday life happiness,…): "free representation consists in doing as we please as often , as personally , and as freely as possible , it's having good time , being cool , in English they call it "having fun"…"
He has achieved many theme-exhibitions.
The main themes involved are: portraits , battle scenes , bestiaries.
